About the Role
As a Pet Sales Associate, you're the heartbeat of our front-of-house experience. Half of your day is spent helping customers find the right food, treats, and products for their pets — making thoughtful recommendations and driving sales. The other half, you're the first face grooming clients see: checking pets in and out, managing the grooming schedule, and making sure every visit feels smooth and welcoming.
What You'll Do
- Greet customers and grooming clients warmly and by name whenever possible
- Guide shoppers through our product selection with genuine knowledge and a consultative approach — no hard sell, just good advice
- Meet monthly sales goals for food, supplements, and accessories
- Check pets in and out for grooming appointments, confirm booking details, and communicate with the grooming team
- Handle scheduling changes, waitlists, and client follow-ups for grooming
- Maintain a clean, organized, and well-stocked sales floor
- Process transactions accurately using our POS system
- Answer phone inquiries with care and efficiency
What We're Looking For
- A genuine love for animals (non-negotiable)
- Comfortable in a fast-paced, dual-role environment — you'll be selling one moment and soothing a nervous dog owner the next
- Strong communication skills and a natural ability to connect with people
- Prior retail, sales, or customer service experience preferred; pet industry experience a plus
- Reliable, punctual, and a team player
Compensation: $19.00 per hour

After years of spending too much time and money for quality pet food I finally said something needs to change. The solution needed to solve both of these problems while also being accessible to dog and cat owners across the city. As a delivery based store we are able to serve pet owners across LA (and neighboring cities). And we don’t outsource deliveries, so you’ll always see the same friendly faces. At Pet Foodie we strive to provide pet owners with a simpler and less expensive way to shop for their pet.
